IS — Wide Flange (I-beam)

Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.

The ISWB 400 steel profile weighs 66.7 kg/m (44.82 lb/ft), has a depth of 400 mm (15.75 in), flange width 200 mm (7.87 in). Cross-sectional area: 8,416.4 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 23,226.44 cm⁴, Iy = 1,735.32 cm⁴.
