Terms of Service

Last updated: March 8, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CalcSteel ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to any provision, do not use the Platform. Continued use after modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Description of Service

CalcSteel is a web-based platform for modeling, analysis, and design verification of steel structures. The service includes a 2D/3D CAD editor, structural calculation tools, steel profile catalog, design code verification (NBR 8800, AISC 360, Eurocode 3, AS 4100, IS 800), and collaboration features. The editor works without registration; login is required only to save projects and run analyses.

3. User Account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You must provide accurate and up-to-date information when creating your account.
  • You must immediately notify CalcSteel of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to access restricted areas of the system, databases, or servers without authorization.
  • Use the Platform for illegal, fraudulent, or harmful activities.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works of the software.
  • Intentionally overload servers or interfere with the Platform's operation.

5. Engineering Calculation Disclaimer

CalcSteel is an AUXILIARY structural design tool. The calculations, analyses, code checks, and designs generated by the Platform DO NOT replace the professional judgment of a licensed structural engineer.

Results provided by CalcSteel are based on theoretical and mathematical models. In practice, a wide variety of factors — including fabrication imperfections, actual loading conditions, material quality, and construction conditions — can significantly impact the actual behavior of the structure.

The user acknowledges and agrees that:

  • The user is solely responsible for modeling the structure, inputting data, interpreting results, and making design decisions.
  • Software results must ALWAYS be verified by a licensed structural engineer registered with the appropriate authority (PE, CEng, etc.) before being used in real construction projects.
  • CalcSteel is NOT liable for structural failures, construction defects, accidents, property damage, or any losses arising from the use of the Platform's results.
  • The user shall not use the software for purposes beyond their professional competence and knowledge as an engineer.

6. No Warranty — "As Is"

The Platform is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

CalcSteel does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, that defects will be corrected, or that results will be accurate or reliable.

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall CalcSteel, its directors, employees, partners, or suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, loss of data, business interruption, structural repair costs, or damage to constructions, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

CalcSteel's total liability, for any cause and under any theory of liability, shall be limited to the amounts actually paid by the user in the 12 months immediately preceding the event. For free-tier users, total liability shall be limited to US$20.

8. Intellectual Property

The projects and models you create in CalcSteel are your property. By using the Platform, you grant CalcSteel a limited license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the service.

The software, algorithms, interface, source code, visual design, "CalcSteel" trademark, and all associated documentation are the exclusive property of CalcSteel, protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. Reproduction, distribution, or creation of derivative works without express authorization is prohibited.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CalcSteel, its directors, employees, and partners from any claims, losses, damages, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) designs, calculations, or constructions based on the software's results; (c) violation of these Terms; (d) infringement of third-party rights.

10. Service Availability

We strive to maintain the service available 24/7, but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible. CalcSteel shall not be liable for temporary unavailability due to maintenance, infrastructure failures, or force majeure events.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time through your profile settings. After termination, your data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy, including your right to export data before deletion.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Significant changes will be communicated by email or in-Platform notification at least 15 days in advance. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be submitted to the courts of Maringá, State of Paraná, Brazil.
