IS — Wide Flange (I-beam)

Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.

The ISLB 400 steel profile weighs 56.9 kg/m (38.24 lb/ft), has a depth of 400 mm (15.75 in), flange width 165 mm (6.50 in). Cross-sectional area: 7,125 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 19,005.86 cm⁴, Iy = 937.46 cm⁴.
