EN — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The IPE 270 steel profile weighs 36.1 kg/m (24.26 lb/ft), has a depth of 270 mm (10.63 in), flange width 135 mm (5.31 in). Cross-sectional area: 4,401.4 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 5,504.75 cm⁴, Iy = 418.86 cm⁴.
