EN — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The IPE 240 steel profile weighs 30.7 kg/m (20.63 lb/ft), has a depth of 240 mm (9.45 in), flange width 120 mm (4.72 in). Cross-sectional area: 3,718.5 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 3,670.97 cm⁴, Iy = 282.68 cm⁴.
