EN — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The IPE 220 steel profile weighs 26.2 kg/m (17.61 lb/ft), has a depth of 220 mm (8.66 in), flange width 110 mm (4.33 in). Cross-sectional area: 3,213.4 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 2,652.77 cm⁴, Iy = 204.43 cm⁴.
