AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W920x289 steel profile weighs 289.0 kg/m (194.21 lb/ft), has a depth of 927 mm (36.50 in), flange width 308 mm (12.13 in). Cross-sectional area: 36,454.2 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 498,822.26 cm⁴, Iy = 15,635.5 cm⁴.
