AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W920x253 steel profile weighs 253.0 kg/m (170.02 lb/ft), has a depth of 918 mm (36.14 in), flange width 306 mm (12.05 in). Cross-sectional area: 31,990.9 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 430,714.08 cm⁴, Iy = 13,360.67 cm⁴.
