AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W840x193 steel profile weighs 193.0 kg/m (129.70 lb/ft), has a depth of 840 mm (33.07 in), flange width 292 mm (11.50 in). Cross-sectional area: 24,382.8 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 274,120.83 cm⁴, Iy = 9,025.53 cm⁴.
