AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W610x101 steel profile weighs 101.0 kg/m (67.87 lb/ft), has a depth of 603 mm (23.74 in), flange width 228 mm (8.98 in). Cross-sectional area: 12,813 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 75,239.46 cm⁴, Iy = 2,948.86 cm⁴.
