AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W410x85 steel profile weighs 85.0 kg/m (57.12 lb/ft), has a depth of 417 mm (16.42 in), flange width 181 mm (7.13 in). Cross-sectional area: 10,736.9 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 31,221.76 cm⁴, Iy = 1,802.8 cm⁴.
