AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W360x79 steel profile weighs 79.0 kg/m (53.09 lb/ft), has a depth of 354 mm (13.94 in), flange width 205 mm (8.07 in). Cross-sectional area: 9,899.8 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 22,172.47 cm⁴, Iy = 2,414.45 cm⁴.
