AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W310x107 steel profile weighs 107.0 kg/m (71.90 lb/ft), has a depth of 311 mm (12.24 in), flange width 306 mm (12.05 in). Cross-sectional area: 13,423.3 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 24,437.63 cm⁴, Iy = 8,121.23 cm⁴.
