IS — Wide Flange (I-beam)

Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.

The ISWB 500 steel profile weighs 95.2 kg/m (63.97 lb/ft), has a depth of 500 mm (19.69 in), flange width 250 mm (9.84 in). Cross-sectional area: 12,008.9 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 51,887.56 cm⁴, Iy = 3,831.93 cm⁴.
