AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W690x140 steel profile weighs 140.0 kg/m (94.08 lb/ft), has a depth of 683 mm (26.89 in), flange width 254 mm (10.00 in). Cross-sectional area: 17,553.4 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 133,139.57 cm⁴, Iy = 5,144.87 cm⁴.
