AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W610x82 steel profile weighs 82.0 kg/m (55.10 lb/ft), has a depth of 599 mm (23.58 in), flange width 178 mm (7.01 in). Cross-sectional area: 10,290.8 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 54,863.17 cm⁴, Iy = 1,207.93 cm⁴.
