AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W530x82 steel profile weighs 82.0 kg/m (55.10 lb/ft), has a depth of 528 mm (20.79 in), flange width 209 mm (8.23 in). Cross-sectional area: 10,322.7 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 46,806.75 cm⁴, Iy = 2,027.25 cm⁴.
