AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W460x68 steel profile weighs 68.0 kg/m (45.70 lb/ft), has a depth of 459 mm (18.07 in), flange width 154 mm (6.06 in). Cross-sectional area: 8,639.8 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 29,297.54 cm⁴, Iy = 940.1 cm⁴.
