AISC — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The W200x100 steel profile weighs 100.0 kg/m (67.20 lb/ft), has a depth of 229 mm (9.02 in), flange width 210 mm (8.27 in). Cross-sectional area: 12,587.2 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 11,258.8 cm⁴, Iy = 3,662.71 cm⁴.
