BR — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The VS 550x88 steel profile weighs 88.4 kg/m (59.40 lb/ft), has a depth of 550 mm (21.65 in), flange width 250 mm (9.84 in). Cross-sectional area: 11,263.4 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 64,345.34 cm⁴, Iy = 4,167.75 cm⁴.
