BR — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The VS 550x100 steel profile weighs 99.9 kg/m (67.13 lb/ft), has a depth of 550 mm (21.65 in), flange width 250 mm (9.84 in). Cross-sectional area: 12,725.6 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 74,040.75 cm⁴, Iy = 4,948.98 cm⁴.
