EN — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The UB 406x140x39 steel profile weighs 39.0 kg/m (26.21 lb/ft), has a depth of 398 mm (15.67 in), flange width 141.8 mm (5.58 in). Cross-sectional area: 4,876.1 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 12,192.16 cm⁴, Iy = 409.5 cm⁴.
