IS — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The ISMB 250 steel profile weighs 37.3 kg/m (25.07 lb/ft), has a depth of 250 mm (9.84 in), flange width 125 mm (4.92 in). Cross-sectional area: 4,677.5 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 5,065.77 cm⁴, Iy = 407.52 cm⁴.
