IS — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The ISHB 400A steel profile weighs 82.2 kg/m (55.24 lb/ft), has a depth of 400 mm (15.75 in), flange width 250 mm (9.84 in). Cross-sectional area: 10,320.8 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 28,464.55 cm⁴, Iy = 3,311.01 cm⁴.
