EN — Wide Flange (I-beam)
Wide flange beams (W shapes / I-beams) are the most common structural steel profile used in building construction. They are used for beams, columns, and girders in steel-framed buildings and bridges. Designed per AISC 360, Eurocode 3, and NBR 8800.
The HEM 280 steel profile weighs 189.0 kg/m (127.01 lb/ft), has a depth of 310 mm (12.20 in), flange width 288 mm (11.34 in). Cross-sectional area: 23,522 mm². Moment of inertia Ix = 38,873.66 cm⁴, Iy = 13,151.2 cm⁴.
